E&A Inc. was contracted by Nassau County to convert an old deteriorated supermarket storage and office building into a new 280,000 square foot state of the art Public Safety Center. The project consisted of 3 phases.

Phase I included heavy interior and exterior demolition, construction of a new 30,000 square foot building, renovation and improvements to two connected buildings and construction of a radio tower and stand along communications building. As General Contractor, our scope consisted of demolition, shoring, concrete underpinning and structural steel, construction of a new 30,000 square foot one story building, renovations to Building 1, which involved creating an 80,000 square foot mezzanine level throughout the building and improvements to Building 2.

Phase II work consisted of exterior and interior renovations of 4 existing attached buildings on the site and associated work. Work in building 1 consisted of the creation of new office spaces for Police & Fire Marshal functions including a new 911 call center. The exterior walls were all reconstructed. A new entry lobby pavilion was constructed on the west side of the existing structure at the junction of buildings 1 and 2. Work in building 2 consisted of minor interior renovations and exterior renovations. Work in buildings 3 and 4 consisted of creation of emergency response vehicle storage and support spaces along with exterior renovations. Our construction work included asbestos removal, cast in place concrete, masonry restoration, structural steel, waterproofing, interior and exterior curtain wall system, exterior metal panels and hydraulic elevator installation.

Phase III work consists of the extension of the existing parking lot and site work, selective demolition to the ground floor, 2nd floor and roof, modification of the existing building infrastructure to accommodate the new state of the are forensics lab and additional facilities.
